Short category review of our stay (2 nights) Location The location is very central. You can reach pretty much everything on foot. The Waterlooplein station is only about a 10-minute walk away. The concert venue “Melkweg” is also close by, which was very important for us. One thing to keep in mind: because of the central location, it can get quite noisy facing the street. There is also a large nightclub behind the hotel, so you will hear bass music late into the night. Room There is an elevator that takes you to the different floors. Only the rooms under the roof require a few extra stairs. The rooms are cozy and seem to be recently renovated. We really liked the interior design. There is a small coffee tray as well as a safe for valuables. The bed was quite soft and rather small for a double bed. Bathroom Small but nice bathroom with a walk-in shower. Also recently renovated. The only downside was the water pressure in the shower — it was quite weak. Service / Staff The staff was very friendly. For Valentine’s Day, guests even received a small gift. There is also free coffee, tea, and water available in the lounge area downstairs. Cleanliness (overall) Everything was clean and tidy to us. If you really look for flaws, you might find minor things here and there, but nothing that bothered us. Final thoughts Make sure to check the hotel’s exact location beforehand. It sits directly behind a large nightclub, so you will definitely hear bass at night. If that doesn’t bother you, the stay is absolutely fine. We would likely come back, as the location and price-performance ratio were great for us.
We had an excellent stay at Hotal Oscar. I would 100% recommend it. They have a very caring stuff members and overall our trip to Amsterdam has been great but this hotel made it even better!
