Amsterdam

Boat Tours

With so many great attractions and more than 50 museums (more than any other city in the world), cruising along the national heritage canals of Amsterdam is a perfect way to explore the city. With the Canal Bus you can Hop On and Hop Off wherever you choose and plan your own custom itinerary.

You can choose from either 24 or 48 hour time periods and there are 17 stops along 3 different routes. This means you can easily visit the top shopping areas or famous attractions like the Van Gogh Museum, Rijks Museum and Anne Frank House by hopping off at one the convenient stop points located nearby.

The boats themselves are great. First they have a glass ceiling and sides, which can slide open when the weather is good. This means you get a full panoramic view of the architecture and can see the top of the beautiful buildings as you cruise along. For each route there is a different detailed commentary in 6 languages (English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Dutch) which brings the story of the canals to life. To top it all off the Canal Bus also run on eco-friendly natural gas.

Another top tip is that the Canal Bus offers Combi Tickets to save some cash. Say you want to visit the Van gogh Museum while on the cruise. You can buy the Combi Ticket that gives you a seat on the boat for 24 hours, along with a ticket to visit the museum. There are plenty of combinations for museums and other tourist attractions too.

When you purchase a ticket for the Canal Bus you can also get some special deals on an Evening Cruise, which is a totally different experience altogether. You have the Candlelight Cruise, which is a sinfully romantic way to spend the evening replete with cheese-tasting, fine wines and a smooth ride down some of Amsterdam's splendidly lit canals. Other cruises include the Cocktail Cruise or the Pizza Cruise, where you can enjoy a selection of pizzas while gallivanting around the waterways. Finally if you just want a regular cruise around the city then you could also opt for the Number 1 Canal Cruise, Canal company's regular Amsterdam canal cruise.
