Hollandsche Manege
Amsterdam
Located on Vondelstraat very close to Leidseplein, is the oldest riding school in the Netherlands. Originally founded for Amsterdam elites to practice their riding skills, this riding school dates back to 1744. It was originally founded in another location, though Hollandsche Manege has stood where it is currently housed, since the building was constructed in 1882. The architect of the building also designed Amsterdam Centraal Station and the Concertgebouw. That's right, this typical-looking canal house is actually in indoor horse riding park. The 50 horses that live in stables in the building are also allowed to roam in a nearby meadow.
