Koan Float
Amsterdam
Imagine yourself to be floating in warm saltwater, weightless, with all your troubles and worries vanishing away into nothingness. You're in an insulated chamber, peacefully meditating while submerged in water, with soothing music and scented candles to keep you company. Welcome to Koan Float, haven of stress-relief and one of the best ways to unwind in Amsterdam.
Koan Float is an initiative of the Ambassade Hotel and was founded in 1997. The serene float and massage centrum is located in a 17th Century building along the Herengracht, one of Amsterdam's several historic canals. Koan Float provides the perfect atmosphere for a unique and transient form of relaxation, using age old wisdom to impart modern-day wellness experiences.
Floating - A Unique Experience
Going to Koan Float, you have several options in front of you, the most popular being the floatation experience itself. Let's talk a bit about the floating first. Using a cushion of silken saline water, the temperature is kept at a snug 35.5 degrees Celsius. The floating provides an amazing feeling of weightlessness that gives your body and muscles a chance to escape the constant force of gravity and relax with slower breathing and a lower heart rate.
Massages
Coming to the massages, Koan Float has a plethora of massages for you to choose from. Massage sessions typically last for 45 minutes or an hour, although you can request for longer durations if you haven't had enough. Some of the massages on offer include exotic names like the Shiatsu Massage, Cranio Sacral Balancing, Boja Massage, Esalen Massage or the Aqama Massage.
