DescriptionTravel back in time to the days of the royal House of Oranje-Nassau on this full-day private tour to the Paleis Het Loo and the scenic town of Giethoorn. Following a pick-up from your hotel in Amsterdam (or other city center location of your choice), drive by executive class vehicle through gorgeous Dutch countryside to Apeldoorn in the central province of Gelderland. You will go to the star attraction; the Paleis Het Loo. Built for William III as a gentleman’s summer retreat, and replete with a magnificent garden, the classic Dutch Baroque house was designed in the 17th century by Jacob Roman and Johan van Swieten. It underwent a comprehensive restoration in the 1960s, and is now a national museum and library devoted to the Royal House of Orange-Nassau. After a tour of the grounds, your driver will transfer you to Giethoorn in the province of Overijssel. Founded by fugitives from the Mediterranean in 1230AD, the village is known as the “Venice of the North” for its many canals in place of roads. Discover how most of the houses are built on islands connected by high bridges during some free time to explore on your own. Your driver will be waiting to transfer you back to Amsterdam for a drop off at your hotel or other city center location of choice.
