Greenhouse Effect

Amsterdam

Coffeeshops

Located in Haarlemmerstraat, the Greenhouse Effect is actually a hotel, bar and a coffeeshop, all located next to each other. It was set up in 1992 as an alternative to the 'dark and seedy' cliché that haunts most of the coffeeshops nowadays. At first glance, the Greenhouse Effect doesn't even look like a coffeeshop, rather like a quintessential restaurant that has a bar right next to it. However, the plethora of glass displays with different kinds of exotic weed varieties and the permeating scent of pinecones all around as soon as you step in do well to disabuse you of this notion.
