Whenever someone mentions the great Dutch painting masters, there is a good chance they are referring to either Rembrandt van Rijn or Vincent van Gogh (or both). After all, they are two of the greatest Dutch artists of all time. And while their lives were separated by centuries, their work turns out to have more in common than you might think. Vincent meets Rembrandt is the first son-et-lumière (sound and light) show to be shown on such a scale inside a national monument. The show uses the entire interior of the Noorderkerk, from the walls to the brim, as its setting creating a 360° moving canvas. Inside the church, you’ll find yourself surrounded by sunflowers, angels and blossoms as you experience the admiration Vincent van Gogh had for Rembrandt van Rijn. The exposition Vincent meets Rembrandt tells the story of how the two painters are connected, how Van Gogh became fascinated by Rembrandt and even inspired by him. The story is told through Van Gogh’s letters to his brother (recited in English) as well as the artwork of both artists. Vincent meets Rembrandt is an immersive experience that will leave you mesmerized. The story unfolds around you, while you lay down in the comfortable beanbags or take a stroll through the church. You'll see and hear how Van Gogh found inspiration in Rembrandt’s paintings and etchings. You’ll feel how sincerely he looked up to the great master before him.
