Description
Located in the historic ambiance of an Amsterdam canal house, the Amsterdam Pipe Museum presents an overview of the fashion and design o smoking pipes. The exhibition covers a period of 2,500 years, with exciting objects from five continents. The opportunity to have a personal tour makes your visit an unexpected learning experience. You'll enter the museum through the basement door, into the museum shop where you get your ticket at the counter. On the main floor of the seventeenth century house you'll see all the original elements of the heavy ceiling beams and the typical Dutch cupboard which are 350 years old just as the house itself. One of the voluntary guides will be present to guide you along the pipe collection - even in various languages. The museum showcases the tobacco pipe from its origin among the American Indians at around 500 BC up to present times. The tour ends when you go down the stairs again into the museum shop. This shop in the basement is an unexpected El Dorado, not only for pipe smokers and collectors, but also for visitors who are looking for a unique gift or gadget.Includes
