元々は島であったマルケンは、アムステルダムの外にある小さな漁村です。ノーデンホランド州のウォーターランドとザーン地域に位置し、木造の家や伝統的なオランダの衣装で知られています。マルケンは、近くのボレンダム村からボートで行くことができます。既にボレンダムにいる場合は、自転車を借りて元の島に向かうこともできます。マルケン博物館を訪れることができ、そこではかつてマルケンでどのように木造の家が建てられていたかが見られます。また、半島の歴史や多くの伝統的な衣装も展示されています。村には、Sijtje Boes houseなどの記念品店やスーベニールショップもあります。一部の店舗では、古いドレスが作られていた布地を販売しており、他の店舗ではドレスそのものを販売しています。
