As we enter the historic Jewish Quarter, history deepens: the Jewish Museum shows the richness of Jewish life before the war, while the nearby Auschwitz Monument reflects the pain of loss through its shattered mirrors. We end at the Portuguese Synagogue, still glowing by candlelight, and at De Dokwerker, the proud symbol of resistance where ordinary Amsterdammers once stood up against injustice.
