Micropia is the world’s only microbe museum, located a 10-minute walk from Amsterdam’s city center next to ARTIS Zoo. It offers an interactive exploration of the invisible microbial world that exists in the air, on our skin, and inside our bodies.

This museum brings microbes to life through living specimens, microscopes, interactive displays, and expert stories from lab technicians. Visitors can scan themselves to discover the microbes living on and inside their bodies.

Water Lab Experience

The Water Lab features three aquariums filled with water from a farm ditch, seawater, and Amsterdam canals. Though it appears as ordinary water, each contains a thriving community of microbes. Visitors can look through microscopes to observe these microorganisms.

Additional Options

With a combination ticket, you can also visit the ARTIS-Groote Museum to learn how humans, animals, plants, and microbes are interconnected. ARTIS Zoo is nearby for experiencing nature directly.
