Description
The Art Zoo Museum offers a modern take on the traditional cabinet of curiosities, blending art and natural history. Located in a beautiful 17th-century canal house, it features lifelike taxidermy art by internationally recognized artists Darwin, Sinke, and Van Tongeren.
The exhibits portray animals in dramatic, theatrical scenes where feathers shimmer, muscles appear tense, and eyes look almost real. Visitors can see animals displayed like 17th-century Dutch still lifes, from colorful birds and snakes to crocodiles and a T. rex, creating a vivid experience of nature and art combined.
The museum’s policy ensures ethical sourcing: none of the animals were taken from the wild or bred specifically for the museum, and all died of natural causes.
