Description
Travel 374 years back in time. Experience 17th-century Amsterdam in VR.
Amsterdam 1652 in VR is a shared free-roam virtual reality experience where you walk together through 17th-century Amsterdam, seen through the eyes of its people.
Your visit begins in two immersive introduction rooms, where cinematic storytelling gradually guides you from present-day Amsterdam into the world of 1652. Along the way, you’ll discover the historical context before stepping seamlessly into virtual reality.
Once inside VR, you move through the city as it once was: along the IJ, across Dam Square and through its streets, canals and marketplaces. You encounter citizens from that time and discover how people lived, traded, worked and came together in 1652.
The experience unfolds across multiple scenes, each revealing a different part of the city and its stories. You are free to choose your own perspective, look around at your own pace and discover details throughout the environment. Interactive moments allow you to engage with the world as you explore.
The experience is designed to be shared. Visitors move simultaneously through the same virtual world, seeing one another as they walk through Amsterdam together. The result is an experience where you don’t just observe history, but stand within it.
