Description
This tour begins in De Rijp, where you take a morning walk along a canal featuring traditional wooden houses and Dutch Golden Age monuments, including the impressive town hall.
Next, a short drive brings you to Schermerhorn, home to three of the oldest Dutch windmills. One windmill is now a museum open for full exploration from top to bottom.
The tour continues east, crossing the 26-kilometer-long Houtribdijk dam. You enjoy free time for lunch at Batavia Stad.
After lunch, visit Urk, a former island now part of Flevoland, where you stroll by the lighthouse and old church overlooking the sea.
The final stop is Elburg, a medieval town accessed through a fifteenth-century entrance gate. Here, you explore monuments and remaining parts of the original city wall.
