Description
Begin your tour at Yellow Bike, near Amsterdam Central Station. After a brief stop at the station, take a ferry to exit the city by bike. Cycle past the unique Chalk Mill in North Amsterdam, through the natural reserve ’t Twiske, and the Twiskemolen windmill before arriving at the Zaanse Schans village.
Spend one to two hours exploring the windmills, visiting a clog maker, and tasting cheese at the farm. Enjoy some time to eat and drink before returning via a shorter route through Zaandam. This return route includes a stop at the Verkade Factory and views of notable architecture such as the statue of the XXXL Kissing Couple.
Zaanse Schans preserves traditional timber constructions and offers insight into the Zaan region before the Industrial Revolution. The windmills along the Zaan river showcase the historic landscape of Holland.
