De Nieuwe Kerk
Amsterdam
Located next to the distinguished Royal Palace in Dam Square, De Nieuwe Kerk attracts hundreds of thousands visitors every year. It holds some remarkable exhibitions and organ concerts, which are thronged by many. The exhibitions in particular are a hot draw, as they feature treasures and artifacts from various cultures around the world. It has also been the site of a royal wedding, that of Prince Willem Alexander to Maxima in 2002. It has also been used for royal inaugurations, like the one of Queen Beatrix in 1980. Nowadays, the Nieuwe Kerk is more a cross-cultural exhibition rather than a place of religious services.
