Amsterdam Music Theatre
Amsterdam
The Amsterdam Music Theatre is Amsterdam's answer to its long wait for a new opera building. Known locally as the 'Stopera' it is a music theater-cum-town hall located on one of the bends of the River Amstel. It is extremely popular amongst locals as well as visitors. The star attraction of the Amsterdam Music Theatre is not only the performances, but also the building that is home to these brilliant acts. You can catch performances by the Dutch National Ballet, The Netherlands Opera, or the two in-house companies of the Amsterdam Music Theatre at the concert hall. The building of the Amsterdam Music Theatre also calls for a visit due to its massive, block-like design with a tall, glass façade. The highlight of its design is the curved front that is turned towards the city. This gives the building a panoramic view across the Amstel River, from the Skinny Bridge to the Munt Tower.
