  • Visit a historical restaurant in a monumental building, dating from 1885
  • Discover the secrets of platform 2B inside the Amsterdam Central Station
  • See for yourself the best train station restaurant according to the British newspaper the Guardian
  • Learn about famous architect Pierre Cuypers who also designed the Rijksmuseum

Description

Enjoy a delicious meal at the Grand Café Restaurant 1e Klas inside Amsterdam Centraal Station at platform 2B. Taste 6 different types of croquettes and bitterballen while you enjoy a glass of Heineken draft beer, house wine or a soft drink. Also try veal bitterbal, Peking duck bitterbal, Thai Green Curry bitterbal, cheese arugula croquette, chicken satay croquette and shrimp croquette. The friendly and knowledgeable waiters will explain the different dishes and you will be given a sheet with additional gastronomic information. The result is an experience of comfort, style, and quality. The restaurant is a hidden gem (a sister of the Rijksmuseum) with a stunning view of the Old City Centre. Experience travel back through time, as the restaurant is located in the former 1st class waiting rooms. Between 1881 and 1889, master builder Pierre Cuypers from Roermond designed the Amsterdam Central Station. His craftsmanship is highly praised and he is often seen as the man who revived architecture in the Netherlands. The old waiting rooms are fully renovated (including the sign indicating the waiting times) which takes you back in time. The famous, monumental restaurant is considered by The Guardian as one of the top 10 best station restaurants in Europe and is a melting pot of national and international guests.
