Description
Gather round, curious wanderers and keen photo-snappers! I’m your guide a cheeky Brit who came to Amsterdam for a weekend in the 2010's and accidentally never left (blame the bikes, the beers, and the canals, maybe the red light too).
Today, I’m taking you on a cracker of a stroll through some of the city's most dazzlingly photogenic and culturally soaked spots. Expect grand architecture, hidden gems, Spring in action and maybe the odd duck photobomb. Trainers on, cameras ready we’re off!
> 1st Stop: Rijksmuseum Gardens (20 min)
- Start: Rijksmuseum Main Entrance (Museumstraat 1)
- Admire the Gothic-Renaissance facade – a brilliant selfie spot.
- Stroll through the Sculpture Garden – rotating exhibits from Henry Moore to Barbara Hepworth.
- Watch a giant chess match, often interrupted by rogue toddlers or pigeons.
- Brave the timed fountain installation – ideal for playful spirits.
> 2nd Stop: Museumplein (25 min)
- Step onto Museumplein’s vast, iconic lawn.
- Spot the Concertgebouw – one of the world’s top three concert halls.
- Gaze at the Stedelijk Museum – yes, the bathtub-shaped one.
- Highlight the Van Gogh Museum – from one sale in his life to €20 a glance today.
- Enjoy the lawn’s mix of musicians, yoga sessions, and rabbit-walking grannies.
> 3rd Stop: Vondelpark (40 min)
- Enter through the grand, cast-iron gates.
- Glimpse the Openluchttheater – free summer performances.
- Stroll through the Rose Garden with over 70 varieties.
- Spot Picasso’s ‘Figure découpée’ sculpture lounging casually.
- Take a break at the elegant Vondelpark Pavilion café.
- Look out for the bright green parakeets ruling the trees.
> 4th Stop: Wrap-Up (5 min)
- Finish near the Pavilion, ideal for resting.
- Close to tram stops and a short walk back to the start.
