Museums

Located in central Amsterdam between the Dam and Munt is the Allard Pierson Museum otherwise known as the archaeological museum of the University of Amsterdam. The Allard Pierson Museum, which opened in 1934 has more than 16,000 objects, from Egypt, the near east, Greece, Mesopotamia and the Roman Empire. Here at the Allard Pierson Museum you can build yourself a picture of how life might have been in the years between 4000BC and 500AD and gain insight into the mythology and religion of the time.
