Located in Hotel Amsterdam on Damrak only a five minute walk from Central Station, De Roode Leeuw, or Red Lion, is known for its 'gezellig', or cozy atmosphere. This restaurant was opened in 1911 and is still owned by the original family. De Roode Leeuw serves traditional Dutch food including mussels, pea soup, Dutch Herring, croquets, and 'broodjes' (sandwiches). The traditional Dutch three-course meal offers a variety of Dutch specialties to provide a sample of typical Dutch cuisine. De Roode Leeuw also provides the option for large meals for groups with 12 or more people.
