National Museum of Spectacles

Amsterdam

Museums

The National Museum of Spectacles is well named. This museum, which specializes in eyeglasses, is truly quirky and one-of-a-kind. Located in the Negen Straatjes district of Amsterdam, Het Nationaal Brilmuseum, as it is called in Dutch, is located above an old optician's shop. The history and fashion of eyeglasses is displayed in a fun way, exhibiting more than 700 years of spectacles. Though the family has been collecting different eyeglasses for more than 200 years, the museum was started 35 years ago. When you are in Amsterdam, make sure to drop by: who knows, it may help you see things a little more clearly!
