Located on the Prinsengracht the Pancake Bakery is the place to go if you're looking for the best pancakes in all Amsterdam. The restaurant was inaugurated in 1973 and is housed in an old, converted VOC warehouse from the 17th century. The homey atmosphere of the place is a welcome treat for tourists who want to sample the delicious treats inside and its central location makes it a nice stop while you're sightseeing.
What's on the menu?
Well that's a no brainer, pancakes, pancakes and more pancakes. They serve more than 75 kinds of pancakes, both sweet and savoury, with assorted toppings and all baked to perfection. They also have international pancakes on the menu. These recipes are sourced from their native lands and recreated in the open kitchen at Pancake Bakery and they are a delightful addition to the menu. They also serve many varieties of omelettes with bread and salad. The omelettes and pancakes are quite large and very filling too so the place is great for lunch or brunch. For drinks they offer a selection of fruit juice, coffee, tea and hot chocolate. There is also beer, wine, jenever available for those who like a little buzz with their meal. The food and drinks are moderately priced but well worth the expense.
